Howdy Cats and Kittens,
It’s been a long time since an update. Sorry about that. I got writers block when I realized that people like it when I rant. I didn’t know if I was ready to rant that much. I generally love people. Usually a rant is no good unless it’s aimed at someone. Anyway, I’m back and ready to rant. Kind of.
Deke Dickerson and the Ecco-fonics are undoubtedly the best rockabilly band in the world. They set the bar that all others attempt. I saw them in Dallas at the Allgood Cafe. I couldn’t stay long, but Deke and the boys are awesome. No press for the best guitarist in the world. Don’t get me ranting.
I finally picked a winner in the car contest. I’m going to announce that tomorrow. We had a ton of great cars with some really fun people from all over the world. Thanks to everybody who sent in pictures to the website.
I got to see some of my music critic buddies last night. That was a real treat. I loved it. I was genuinely glad to see them. It was at the Dallas Observer Music Awards. Imagine me, at a big city get together like that! Anyway, I have a little more empathy for some of these guys now, because, I kind of know now that they have to rant to sell papers. Plus, all I know is that they write all of this stuff that I don’t read about all of these bands and the best guitarist in the world shows up and there’s no press.
Hey, I know that we’ve got some fans that are serving in the military and I’d just like to say that my family and band are grateful to you for serving the good ol’ U. S. of A. And, congratulations on your swift victory in Operation Iraqi Freedom. I feel like the luckiest guy in the world to live in the United States Of America. When I see people risk and give their lives for our great country it does choke me up. They help provide a secure life for me and my family. Thanks.
Let’s hope the whole world will someday be as lucky as we are in the U.S. I love everywhere I travel. I love Europe. I still love France. But, there is just something about my home country. Don’t get me ranting.
O.K. that’s all I can do today.
Tune in tomorrow for the winner of the car contest.
Jim “Reverend Horton” Heath
